Casa OM1 Allows Nature Interaction with Its Gardens

Isn’t it nice to live in a house that is surrounded by nature? It would be very relaxing if you see plants everywhere!

Although we can actually add plants indoors, it is still better to have your very own garden or courtyard.

Do you agree?

When you have that, you have a natural environment that is refreshing and will help you de-stress.

That is why many homeowners look for a way in order to include that in their home. Others would have a rooftop garden if they do not have enough space on the ground level.

Still, others prefer to have a central courtyard while there are homes that have gardens all around it!

Today, we are going to show you a home that is designed in a way that the owners could interact with nature. This is what you will see in Casa OM1 designed by Andrés Escobar of AE Arquitectos. This contemporary house is located in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Let us take a look at the house below:

Location: Guadalajara, Mexico

Designer: AE Arquitectos

Style: Modern

Number of Levels: Two-storeys

Unique feature: A beautiful contemporary home which has gardens around it and a central garden. It allows the owners to interact with nature.

Similar House: The Water Lily House in Singapore Features a Central Water Court

This contemporary home made use of wood, stone, and steel which results into a house with a natural appeal.

You can see that the house has outdoor spaces like the dining area and kitchen that is located near the pool. Love the plants on the stone wall!

At the rear of the home, the sloped backyard has a stone retaining wall filled with plants. The stones add beauty to the home’s exterior and it is also used in the interior as well. There is also grass that leads up to the house.

Aside from the open spaces of the house, it also has a spacious lawn and outdoor area. It features an L-shaped pool with a dining and sitting area near it.

Next to the main living area is one of the home’s highlights- an internal courtyard which is filled with plants and a water feature. It is so Instagram-worthy indeed! I would love to have this space in my own house!

Inside the house, there’s a glass wall that shows off the courtyard from the hallway. It would be nice to sit here and read a book with a good view of the garden.

Inside, the living room, dining room and kitchen all share the same space as seen in the image above. Both sides of the space open to green spaces while its high ceiling allows plenty of light in. The use of wood and steel can be seen here which adds to the home’s natural appeal.

In the hallway and alongside the courtyard, you can see some wood, steel and glass stairs that lead to the upper floor of the home. And while you access the stairs, you will be gifted with a good view of the gardens.

This house is really a beauty especially when all the lights are turned on. The lighting adds drama to the entire house. The effect of using stones bring a warm aura to this residence.

This is indeed a beautiful home! Like their other home designs, the Casa OM1 from AE Arquitectos never fails to deliver an impressive design that will satisfy the needs of the owners. What I like about this house is how it managed to integrate nature into it. You can notice that there are plants and flowers everywhere from the exterior to the interior. The Modern Contemporary Black and White Interiors of Toorak House

You have seen many homes with black and white interiors. For sure, you love its minimal appeal and even the burst of colors from its accessories.

What is good about this combination is its versatility and how it appeals to many. Apart from that, it is also timeless and elegant.

No wonder many homes use this for their interior just like the house that we will feature today.

Sisalla Interior Design has recently completed the interior design of the new modern house named Toorak House. This is located in Melbourne, Australia and was built by HEADHOMES.

Take a look at the house below:

Style: Modern

Number of Levels: Two-storey

Unique feature: A modern house with a black and white interior and a beautifully designed exterior.

The interior of the Toorak House used a color palette of white and black. It also features a mix of modern and contemporary furniture.

The main floor of the home is open plan featuring the living room which is focused on a fireplace with a stone surround. Off the living room are a casual dining room and the backyard.

On the second floor of the house is another living room with the same color palette as the one below. It features large windows that are covered by soft billowing curtains. There is also wood shelving on either side of the fireplace which slides open to reveal a hidden bedroom and the television, as you can see in the image.

White walls have been combined with dark wood floor and black elements in the interior of the Toorak House. This combination is perfect to achieve a contemporary and minimalist interior.

This is the dining area which is anchored in the open plan room by a glass and metal chandelier. Aside from this, there is another dining area outdoors.

Opposite the dining room is a beautiful kitchen. It features a large island with a stone base that matches the fireplace. It provides an ample amount of counter space for food preparation. Its white countertops provide a contrast the dark cabinets in the area. There is also a window which allows the occupants to take a good look outside while in the kitchen.

Off to the side of the kitchen is the pantry which you can see in this image. It hides the fridge from the main living area. There are also dark built-in open shelving and additional cabinets that provide ample storage.

Near the stairs, there’s an office area with built-in dark wood cabinets. There is also a desk that is large enough for two people. This is a space saver office area which is perfect for long hallways.

On the top floor of the house is the bedroom. Notice that it used black frames for the windows that are a good contrast against the white walls and ceiling. From here, there is access to a rooftop deck and a master bedroom suite.

In the ensuite bathroom, it features a large window that adds plenty of natural light and the mirror helps to bounce that light around the room. Its tile backsplash in natural colors compliments the curtains and flooring, completing the look of the simple bathroom.

The owners would have a relaxing time while in this roof patio. This wood covered rooftop deck has views of the neighborhood and city in the distance.

There is also a simple black and white bathroom with slightly textured white tiles. It features a standalone bathtub and a walk-in glass shower.

In this angle, you can clearly see the casual dining room with folding doors that can be opened to the backyard, creating indoor/outdoor living.

Seen here is the facade of the house which features a black exterior for the upper area while on the lower part are sliding blinds. You can also get a glimpse of the home’s garage.

Don’t you love the interior design of this house from Sisalla Interior Design? Aside from its combination of black and white, it connects to the outdoor area through its glass windows and sliding doors. Notice that the interior has a simple yet beautiful modern design from the living room to the bedroom. Overall, it looks very relaxing and inviting! Claremont Residence Extension Features a Backyard Update

If you are blessed with a spacious lot, you would surely make use of it so you can add more footprints to your home.

For some, they prefer to use it as a garden or a yard where they can spend time outdoors. Guess, that sounds better, right?

That is why many homeowners prefer to have their own yard since they need a space to relax and unwind from their busy city life.

Want to see a home with a lovely backyard?

You can see that in the house that we will feature today. It is a project called Claremont Residence extension by David Barr Architects. The new modern extension and backyard are made for a pre-war suburban house, located in Claremont, Western Australia.

Number of Levels: One-storey

Unique feature: The project is an extension of a modern home which features a backyard and a pool.

Similar House: A Contemporary Backyard in Florida Features Multi-Levels

The project extends the house into the garden which captures views of beautiful mature trees on the site and in neighboring gardens. Distinct spaces are created externally which include a courtyard, a formal lawn, a raised external dining area and pool. Then, it draws back into the house through large areas of glazed openings.

This area can be accessed when you step down from the pool. It is a small grassy area under a tree while next to the lawn is an outdoor lounge focused on a fireplace.

This walkway leads up to a raised outdoor kitchen and dining area. Notice that the yard has beautiful flowers and tall trees in it.

A covered walkway connects the various areas of the new backyard. It has operable timber screens that have been included to provide shade when needed.

To access the outdoor space, this shade is provided which is directly connected to the interior. Like the house, it is also in black and white.

Next to the outdoor kitchen and dining area is a rectangular swimming pool. A glass safety fence surrounds the pool and allows for uninterrupted views of the backyard.

Concrete floors have been paired with white walls and black window and door frames in the house to create a clean and modern aesthetic. What you can see here is a new living room that opens up to the backyard through a large sliding glass door.

Seen here is the bedroom which can also be accessed from the backyard. It also has a simple design with just white walls. The tall glass window and sliding door allows the entry of natural light.

Inside the home, a new kitchen was added which features American Walnut wood cabinets, white countertops, and a stone backsplash. Isn’t this beautiful? The wood and white combination looks very nice. The kitchen also connects to the backyard through sliding doors.

The black frames that are featured throughout the extension are also seen in the new bathroom with a simple modern design. On the left side, you can see a window frame from the original house.

Isn’t this very nice? According to David Barr Architects, the project’s materials are a juxtaposition between the brickwork. It is ‘bagged’ and painted white while dark steel and timber elements link them. There are also large sliding doors with concealed frames concealed which open the major rooms to the garden and courtyards. It also features deep window that reveals open to the north, while operable timber screens shield western windows from the sun. In the interior, there is a restrained palette of concrete floors, plaster walls and American Walnut timber joinery that gives the client’s art and furniture collection prominence. At the same time, it creates a backdrop for their young family to add vitality. Apart from the images above, the details given to us by the designer surely add more appeal to the home. Even if we can just see the modern extension, we can say that the entire house is no doubt a gem! And the backyard is now very relaxing and inviting!

Can you believe by looking at this home that it is a renovation? Doesn’t it look just like a brand new home?

This home is not completely furnished yet but I wanted to share it today because I know that it can inspire many you that are planing on renovating or building a new home with modern Crafstman farmhouse influences. I love seeing a good home reno. They always inspires me!

We have been so busy since school started with activities, interior design projects and my own home. Things are feeling a bit too messy around here because we’re finishing our basement and renovating one of the kids’ bathroom and no matter how much I clean the house, we continue to have dust everywhere! I wish I could be on a vacation. Don’t we all?

The New Twin Peaks: A 1970s Home Update With Two Roof Ridge

Living in a house with a unique design isn’t just fulfilling for the homeowners. It is also a pride for the designers as well.

That is why most architects would do their best to come up with a unique design that suits the needs of their clients.

This is what happened to the house that we will feature today.

Do you want to know what makes it unique?

As you can see, the house has “two peaks” or two roof ridge. Usually, homes only have one. But the architects were courageous enough to experiment with the design of the home’s roofing.

How did it turn out?

Gloriously beautiful! You can also see in the images below that the house also has more impressive features in the interior.

Number of level: Two-storeys

Unique feature: Aside from its “two peaks,” the house also made use of vertical screens for the facade and it has a very nice interior.

Similar House: Casa Piscucha: A Modern Home With a Unique Wrapped Roof in El Salvador

For this 1970s home, the front peak was already existing but the second roof ridge was added to the rear in the reinvention of this home in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Below the white masonry gables are the aluminum vertical battens that screen the windows that face the street.

According to the designers, the fine edge of the zinc roof conceals gutters and downpipes which provide a crisp and sharp profile to the front of the house and front door. Meanwhile, its windows and door are screened with vertical anodized aluminum battens to protect it from the hot western sun and the gaze of onlookers.

This living room has so many items from well-known designers. What else is required to indulge in a living room that overlooks a garden? The beautiful garden is a result of the architect’s collaboration with Rolling Stone Landscape Design, EJM Landscapes, and the homeowner. Seen here is the recycled brick from Cheap as Bricks which was a material chosen to provide a gritty and robust texture to the base of the building. It can also create a contrast with the crisp whiteness of the top gables.

In the living room, ‘S’ fold curtains provide the foreground to the theatrical stage set of the garden. The sitting room is oriented towards this lush scene which means that there is no need for a TV or fireplace.

In the dining room, there are four-meter high glass doors which can be retracted into the wall to open it up to the mild Sydney climate. Or it could also be closed tight to provide a prime seat at the dining table under the gorgeous pendant lights.

Instead of adding a built-in joinery in this area to connect the kitchen to the BBQ outside, the designers added this credenza by Roberto Lazzeroni for Ceccotti Collezioni. It added character and wealth of textures, colors, and forms in the dining space. I also like that wall decor which seems to contain small origami birds in different colors.

Before you get to the stairs, the house features a home office with a simple curve on its wooden top. It also goes with an office chair that has curves too.

The stair appears to be designed with the purpose of reaching the upper shelves of this Frank Lloyd Wright inspired “Albero” bookcase designed by Gianfranco Frattini. It serves as the main spine of the house.

One more flight leads to the bedroom level where you can see another woven brass and bronze screen that separates it from the front door. In this staircase, sunlight comes from a skylight that goes down to the bowels of the house.

The stone bench top used a shark nose edge design on it while the owner, who undertook the interior design, selected a dining table with a similarly shaped edge. The overhead cupboards with V grooved doors feature joints that are barely discernible.

Seen under the new peak of whitewashed timber boards in the bedroom. It gives rise to lofty dreams and a mix of tactile materials. The comforting Roberto Lazzeroni designed armchair that we can see in the bedroom stimulates the subconscious memories of the dreamer. Notice also that this master bedroom also has an accent wall covered with upholstered squares.

Behind the side fence of the home is a relaxing swimming pool. It is a hive of activity with curtains billowing, water splashing, and the rotating blades in the motorized pergola. As you can see, it is a very nice spot to unwind.

This is one bathroom in the house which made use of Green onyx as chosen by the owners and supplied by WK Stone. This makes for a textural bathroom vanity splash back that made it really beautiful.

This home from Luigi Roselli Architects is designed with a modern language of sharp edges, abstract forms, robust cantilevered canopies and oversized windows. It is a contemporary version of the double gables, shingles and traditional glazing. You can also see that the house has a backdrop of huge trees that are fruit bearing and are populated by birds. Apart from the beautiful exterior of the house, the New Twin Peaks also has a very nice interior which includes double height ceilings and a central cascading staircase that is considered as a main spine of the home.
