“Hi! My name is Agata from @TassonInteriors. I’m so excited and grateful to be featured by Luciane on Home Bunch! I’ve found so much inspiration here and it feels surreal to be featured among so many talented designers and homeowners.
I started my career as a criminal prosecutor ten years ago. When our daughter was born I took a break from law to enjoy these precious young years with her. During that time my husband and I started our third home renovation. Earlier this year I started an Instagram account to share our renovation, and my love for design. With the encouragement of family and friends I am now in the process of pursuing my longstanding passion for interior design and decorating as a career.
Our current home is the one featured here in these photos. My husband and I purchased this home as a new builder grade home. We love the neighbourhood because it has an abundance of parks, new schools, young families, and it’s close to many amenities. We didn’t upgrade anything through the builder choosing instead to put our own stamp on the house which included full kitchen and bathroom renovations (our master bathroom is currently under construction). Dining Room
I love having a separate dining room but we didn’t want anything too formal or fancy. We love to host family and friends, but our dining room isn’t just for special occasions. We eat dinner in our dining room every evening. It’s so important to me for our family to connect around the table at the end of the day.

Herringbone Flooring
These herringbone floors were a last minute decision which turned out to be our favourite feature of this room. We also added some millwork to give the white walls some interest.

Picture Frame Wainscoting: We added picture frame wainscoting to the dining room and the master bedroom. It gives both rooms a more elegant and custom feel.

Chairs – Sears Canada (years ago) recently re-upholstered with Tonic Living fabric (Weston, Salt) painted by Paint it Like New – similar here.

Butler’s Pantry
A butler’s pantry is located between the dining room and kitchen.
The wide plank European white oak floors are by far my favourite feature of this house. They add so much character and warmth to our home. They also give it the light and airy feel that I was after.

Glass doors give an airy feel to the butler’s pantry cabinetry.
Kitchen
This is our favourite space in our home. I love the open floor plan kitchen and family room. It’s where we spend most of our time preparing meals, playing, reading and enjoying our family time. The back of our home is southwest facing so we enjoy a lot of natural light here. We eliminated the breakfast area and designed this custom kitchen opting for a large 9 x 4.5 foot island instead of a breakfast table. I wanted the kitchen to feel modern and fresh yet timeless. The panelled fridge was a splurge but I absolutely love it.

Hardwood Flooring
The wide plank European white oak floors are by far my favourite feature of this house. They add so much character and warmth to our home. They also give it the light and airy feel that I was after.
Flooring: 7.5 inch European white Oak made by Purparket unstained (sanded on site). Finished with a clear coat made by Loba – No stain used – similar here.
Countertop

Counterstools
I searched and searched for the perfect counter stools but ultimately I decided to stick with the ones that I already had. Instead, with the help of Anne from Oakville Slipcovers I had slipcovers made from some beautiful striped fabric from Tonic Living. I’m so happy with how they turned out!
Barstools – Homesense find years ago but I recently added these slipcovers Slipcover fabric is Tonic Living. Custom made by Anne at Oakville Slipcovers – similar here – (Select Fabric: Perennials® Performance Shirting Stripe – Pewter).

Family Room
I love the generous size of this room. We opted for a sectional sofa to maximize seating. We added a coffered ceiling to add some character and interest to this room, as well as to add some definition to the space. My husband built the shiplap wall above the fireplace.

This is a good way to place pillows on a sectional sofa.

Powder Room
The powder room was originally located between the kitchen and the dining room. We relocated the powder room into the sunken laundry room. The original powder room was transformed into a walk-in pantry across from the butler’s pantry. I love that the powder room is now in a more discrete spot.
I was really inspired by Luciane’s first Beautiful Homes of Instagram Home Bunch feature @JSHomeDesign’s powder room. That’s where I found this beautiful Crown wallpaper and this honed marble herringbone tile. I designed this custom mirrored vanity and paired it with a durable quartz counter.
Pocket Doors (powder room) Another way we added custom charm to our cookie cutter build was to add pocket doors. They are such great space savers. (Hardware is by Emtek) (pocket door is in the powder room, between master bedroom and master bathroom & 2 master bedroom walk-in closets)

It’s wonderful to have you here again! I work closely with the designers, builders and all professionals to share as much information as I can on every house featured on Home Bunch and it’s truly a pleasure to share this newly-built home with all of you.
Designed by Wyrick Residential Design and built by Blakecraft Homes, this Houston, Texas, home features plenty of inspiring ideas, starting with its stunning architectural details and its bright and happy interiors.
The overall goal for the design direction was to create a modern coastal home. The fabrics and finishes were selected with a light and airy aesthetic in mind. The designer played with texture and color to add interest. The lady of the house is an artist, so they made sure to incorporate interesting art pieces. In the dining room you’ll notice a Gray Malin piece. The photo is of The Hamptons which is where the couple met. The wife has long admired the artist’s work so the interior designer, Duckworth Interiors, surprised her with the piece on reveal day. The husband is an avid golfer and former golf pro. He wanted his office to reflect that. The designer then incorporated all of his golf memorabilia and prints collected over the years and displayed it in a boldly colored built-in.

Driveway
Driveway – The builder, Blakecraft Homes, created drops in the concrete driveway to accommodate our 12”x24” Shell Beach Tumbled Limestone Paver. In this area, they created pads leading to the front door, with a black star gravel that outlines them, along with the entire driveway.
Foyer
Stunning black steel and glass doors open to an equally impressive foyer. Paint color is Toque White Sherwin Williams SW7003.

Ceiling Treatment: In the Foyer the builder used a 1×6 tongue and groove to outline the tray ceiling, then created a 6”x10” box beam with a faux finish.

Kitchen
Kitchen Cabinet Details: This is a domestic birch plywood cabinet box, with a shaker style Poplar door. Throughout the kitchen the doors are inset into the cabinet face frame, with soft close hardware throughout. The custom hood is built out of plywood, with a smooth stucco finish over the top. We finished it off with a reclaimed 4×12 piece of lumber from Antique Hardwoods of Louisiana. The shelves on the left, and right of the hood were custom fabricated to fit this spot.

Hello, my wonderful friends! What a pleasure it is to have you on Home Bunch today. It’s also a true honor to have this beautiful Southern beach house designed by the talented Courtney Bishop from Cortney Bishop Design.
The homeowners of this beach house are the founders of Babiators. The two met at Harvard, followed by the husband pursuing a career with the Marine Corp as a fighter pilot. He often flew in spectator-filled air shows and it was when his wife noticed young children squinting up at the sky during his air shows, that the idea for Babiators was born. Prior to Harvard, the client lived her whole life in the Upper East Side of Manhattan but it was the husband’s Carolina roots and warmth of the South, both literally and figuratively, that spawned the move to The Holy City.

Southern Beach House with Modern Interiors
With eyes on Charleston, the couple sought a family-oriented lifestyle rich in doses of urban flair, culinary delights, and an artistically inspired culture. Initially, the couple intended to restore a more traditional “Charleston single” but after touring several properties, none quite felt like home. Our client dreamed of a home of dual personalities – one that featured stoic, traditional antebellum Southern architecture, but also a surprise interior of simple modernity and urban chicness just beyond the front door.
Side View
Upon securing the last available lot on the city’s downtown waterfront, our client’s decision to build seemed fundamentally right for their family, which led to search for the exact architect, builder, and design team to move the vision forward. Charleston’s downtown is the country’s first historic preservation district and the city’s Board of Architectural Review (BAR) is also infamous for its strict and complex review of new builds. The BAR has the complex responsibility of honoring the city’s historical cityscape but still recognizing inventible growth. With the design trifecta behind Uptown Downtown, a promising home was designed and BAR-approved that fulfilled our client’s needs and wants.

Choices
Cortney Bishop Design’s role in this full custom home residential build quickly became a welcomed synergetic effort with the client and the architect, Heather Wilson. Ultimately, the interior benefited from their mutual appreciation for each other’s ideas and exposure to new finishes, patterns, furniture, and lighting.

Upon entry into the home, the wide plank French oak floors immediately say hello and serve as a guiding beacon throughout the home. The entry room of the house serves a dual purpose with flanking, twin limestone fireplaces and inviting white plaster walls (see picture below).

Foyer
Beyond the front great room, there is a small break in wood flooring that meets Exquisite Surfaces Navajo tile. This flooring change was designed intentionally as this landing leads to another exterior entry door down to the garage. The tile landing meets the main stairwell which features simple architectural prominence, yet is still remarkably impressionable with the continuation of wood flooring treads, plaster walls, a custom metal railing and lighting by Urban Electric and Roll & Hill.

Beyond the main stairwell, the kitchen showcases custom cabinetry that intentionally matches the hardwood floors. Accents of white marble countertops and a Kelly Wearstler lighting add instant visual contrast.

Are you feeling relaxed after the weekend? If you’re like me, I surely could use an extra day… all weekends seem to go by way too fast. If you feel the same way, this new “Beautiful Home of Instagram” will bring you right back to weekend!
Before we start talking about this house, I need to say that if you’re on Instagram you need to start following Caroline Kilmartin of @caro_kmartin – her home feels like breathing fresh air or walking on a sandy beach. Its coastal vibe immediately relaxes you and calms any stress level. Here, the homeowner shares more details of her newly-built California beach house.
“I was pregnant with our first child when my husband and I decided we needed a larger space to fit our growing family. After searching tirelessly for a home in our area, we decided to build a house in Manhattan Beach, California. Our architect, Joyce Flood, helped us develop the layout and my sister and I did the interior and exterior design. The entire process took almost two years and while there were plenty of challenging moments, we couldn’t be happier with the results.
Our “must-haves” included both a large living space to hang out in that was open to the kitchen and looked out to a backyard and enough bedrooms to accommodate our future family and guests. Since we live in California, we also really wanted an outdoor space that we can enjoy year-round and our children can easily play in.”

Caroline’s Dutch door features a blue-gray paint color, Thousand Oceans by Benjamin Moore. The front porch tile is Bluestone.

Foyer
The foyer is two stories and has a dozen windows to allow plenty of light. Throughout the house there are lots of windows because I love having as much natural light as possible.
All walls, unless otherwise stated, are painted in Simply White by Benjamin Moore.

Dining Room
We created a formal dining space but still wanted it to feel casual and warm for friends and family to gather and eat. The dining table is a 10 foot salvaged wood farm table from Restoration Hardware with a large coco bead chandelier on top. Custom built-in cabinets painted in Simply White by Benjamin Moore add plenty of storage for servingware.
The dining chairs are from Lulu & Georgia.
Bar
In between the Kitchen and Great Room, we put a beverage bar with a built-in drawer fridge to store drinks. The cabinets are custom built with a walnut wood and a glass countertop. We used open shelving above in matching walnut wood to display glassware.
Kitchen
This is where we hang out the most in the house – where we cook and eat, lounge on the sofa, watch TV, and where the children play. We wanted this area to be large and open with plenty of windows looking out to the backyard.
The rattan pendant lights over the island add a little coastal feel. Similar Pendants: here & here.
Breakfast Nook
I loved the idea of a breakfast nook where we can eat our breakfasts and weeknight meals together. This one is surrounded by windows with a custom built walnut table. We made the back cushions from scratch.
Kitchen Details
We put an 8 foot island in the center of the kitchen and skylights above to add natural light.
The backsplash is subtle with waterproof shiplap, except for above the stove where we put Walker Zanger’s Tangent Calacata Apex marble.
Counterstools: Nuevo Satine Counterstool in Walnut.
Pot Filler: Newport Brass.
Cabinetry
The cabinetry was custom built as framed inset and painted Simply White by Benjamin Moore.
Faucets: Newport Brass Kitchen Faucet & Bar Faucet – similar Kitchen & Bar Faucet (Great quality but more affordable).
Hardware: Pulls & Knobs.
Countertop
The appliances are Wolf and the countertops are Calacatta by Caesarstone which have a nice soft marble pattern.
On one side of our kitchen and surrounding the built-in fridge/freezer are open shelves with white painted brick to add some texture. Just behind that wall is a walk-in pantry with open shelving and across from that is the butler pantry with a walnut wood countertop.

Family Room
Since we couldn’t get an ocean view property, we created our own water view by placing the pool in front of the great room and adding folding glass doors that walk out onto the pool area.
The sofa, from RH (similar here, here, here & here), is large and comfortable to fit plenty of family and friends.

Fireplace
I wanted the feel of a real wood burning fireplace but I also wanted it to look clean and modern. So we put a custom built gas fireplace with a herringbone brick pattern inside and used clean white lines on the face.
Leather Chairs
We added two Swedish leather sling chairs as an accent.

Kids’ Area
We also created a small area for the kids to play and read in which includes a daybed and buffet console to store toys.

Powder Room
The Powder Room is small so we didn’t want any large overbearing vanities. We had one custom built from Caesarstone’s Concrete quartz which was made to look like one large slab of concrete. The walls in this room are painted Kensington Green by Benjamin Moore. The wall faucet is from Kohler’s Purist collection.

Mudroom
To the side of the foyer and connected to our garage is a mudroom to store our shoes and coats. We also added a “doggie shower” which we use to rinse off when we come home from the beach. With two kids, this little shower is a huge blessing. The bottom half of the shower is tiled with Alyse Edwards Tongue in Playing it Coal (similar here & here) and the top half has a white waterproof siding. We added a little bench in the shower with Atlas II tile.
Laundry Room
We decided to add a little pop in the laundry room with Medina Grey cement tile from Overstock. The cabinets are custom built and painted in New Hope Gray by Benjamin Moore with a large farmhouse sink and Pure White countertops from Caesarstone.

Guest Bedroom
We host many guests throughout the year so we wanted to create an inviting and comfortable guest room with a fireplace and private bathroom. The bed from Anthropologie is the main piece and I love the mango wood design.

White Interiors: I was nervous about going all-white but, am so happy we went with it—it makes every room lighter and more inviting.

Guest Bathroom
The bathroom has shiplap on the wall, Calacata Nuvo countertop by Caesarstone and a custom built vanity painted in Simply White by Benjamin Moore.

Children’s Bathroom
This is a jack and Jill bathroom that will be for one of our children in the future. We kept it clean with all white tiles and mixed it up with the patterns. The shower is Walker Zanger’s 6th Avenue Cocoon Mosaic (similar here, here & here) and the floors are a small hexagon porcelain tile. We added a freestanding bathtub (Rachel tub from Wyndham) for those bath nights for the kids.
Master Bedroom
The Master bedroom looks out onto our backyard and has vaulted tongue and groove ceilings for added height.

Sometimes we live in the perfect house, in the perfect neighborhood, but with the wrong kitchen. Does this sounds familiar? It does to many people! The years go by and the more we look at our cabinets and the kitchen layout, the more we wish we could tear it all down and start all over again. With interiors by Amy Tausk of Swoon Interiors and with cabinet and architectural design by Stephanie Frees of Plain and Posh, this home’s owners finally had all of their wishes come true! Their old kitchen felt too traditional with an odd layout and the tile flooring was terrible – it was hard to keep it clean with their deep grout lines. A nightmare for any cook!
Here, Stephanie Frees explains more about the configuration of the space: “When I was brought in to the project, the homeowners wanted to be able to get more light in to the space. It faces East and North and there is a covered patio outside the large north windows that blocks most of that light. As the space was so large, we opted to open up two doorways from the kitchen into the dining room to allow the south facing window light to stream in to the kitchen.”

The foyer opens directly to a newly renovated dining room.

“We wanted a light and soothing color scheme and the design all started with this gorgeous green-gray grasscloth wallpaper. My clients wanted it to feel elegant but not too fussy or formal. I think we achieved that with the lighter wood tones and the more casual side chairs.” – Amy Tausk of Swoon Interiors.

A round mirror creates some balance and reflects the natural light in this dining room.

Connection
The dining room opens to the newly-renovated kitchen.
Butler’s Pantry
The blue-grey butler’s pantry, painted in Benjamin Moore Solitude AF545, features beverage and wine refrigerators and beautiful glass front cabinetry. Wood shiplap backsplash is Knotty Alder with a custom stain.
According to the designer, the warm wood planks were stained to coordinate with the island and wood beam above the stove niche.

Kitchen Renovation Details: “We opened up the wall on either side of the range to create two entrances to the dining room and flood the kitchen with it’s beautiful light.
