California Shingle Cottage

 

This single cottage, is features 5 bedrooms, 5,700 square foot and it’s located in Olde Del Mar, CA. The house is ideally sited on a 1/3 acre promontory with spectacular Pacific Ocean views.

It took the homeowners and Flagg Coastal Homes, two years to obtain building permits under California’s and the City of Del Mar’s ever tightening zoning and approval regulations. The homeowners’ persistence and cooperation with their uphill view-affected neighbors was instrumental in obtaining the building permit. The result of their patience, good taste and Flagg‘s years of municipal approval experience yielded this single cottage in the new California “Island Coastal Style”.

The beautiful interiors are by Coastal Dwelling.

 

Besides having a beautiful ocean view, this home is surrounded by nature. There’s something so calming and peaceful about this place.

New-Construction Farmhouse with Front Porch

 

Located in Western Springs, Illinois, and recently completed by Timber Trails Development Company, this new-construction farmhouse has a white exterior, black front door and an inviting front porch.
Timber Trails Western Springs is well-known for creating a new subdivision with new-construction homes that are far from being cookie cutter.

With the help of interior designer Julie Howard, these homes, which includes the farmhouse I am sharing with you today, feature a lot of custom details, from custom cabinetry to high ceilings and plenty of shiplap.

This home also features a large mudroom, a large open kitchen and inspiring home decor. I hope this inspires you.

“The window above is actually leaded glass even though you can’t tell in the pictures. The sconces are Visual Comfort and are huge. I’ve always wanted a space to use them and they work perfectly here. We had a full length mirror made for the back of the door since there isn’t a traditional mirror over the sink. For a powder room I think it’s perfect and actually better to have a full length option. The vanity is 6′ long and the toilet and door are on the opposite wall.” – Designer Julie Howard.

“We like to have our countertop fabricator cut interesting shapes on backsplashes. I think people forget to ask for this. We often bevel just the edges or make a backsplash taller like 6″ or 8″. The vessel sink is marble. A vessel sink was imperative because the corbels were desk height 30″ and we wanted our sink to be at 36”. “

Corbels

The base corbels were from RH (they don’t sell them anymore) and were meant to hold a piece of glass as a desk. The designer turned the corbels sideways so you could enjoy the beauty of the carving. The top is a slab of Caesarstone in Raw Concrete which perfectly matches the wall color.

A Pottery Shed Made From Salvaged Materials

Not all houses or buildings are made with a huge budget. Some are actually built even with a modest budget but it still looks really great.

Do you think that it possible?

Of course, it is!

In fact, there are many homes that were built from scratch by reusing available materials around the area. And the result looks like the owners actually bought new materials to build it. Well, that is the magic of design and engineering!

This is what British firm Grey Griffiths Architects did to a Potting Shed in East London. They used waste materials to form a new, meaningful space.

What does it prove?

It shows how inventive architecture and resourcefulness can actually make a design attainable, even to those who are tight on budget.

Similar House: A Serene Wooden Writer’s Shed in London

Grey Griffiths Architects designed a multi-use garden studio for a ceramicist and keen gardener. With a limited budget, the designers used salvaged materials throughout the build, fitting the ethos of a maker’s studio.

Reclaimed off-cut plywood sheets and ex-display windows and doors were used for this shed. The external-grade birch plywood is smooth and it creates a uniform patchwork finish that is exposed internally to add warmth to the interior. There are different designated areas in the shed for making, relaxing and working.

Salvaged materials were used throughout the building. This includes off-cut plywood for exterior cladding and internal walls. The owner wants the space to be used as an office and snug. With that, she made sure that the design was not constrained by the workshop typology. The owner wants to have a warm, inviting space that embraced the practical requirements of a maker’s studio.

Wood is used for the interior to create a warm and inviting aura. This also embraces the practical requirements of a maker’s studio.

The designers added open shelving like what you can see here. Aside from holding some things that are needed in the space, it is also an added decor.

Since the space is limited, it is important that everything is organized well. Look at how neat this wall organizer is complete with open wall shelves. This way, the ceramicist could keep everything she needs in one spot.

The pottery shed is also used as an office. It has a comfortable couch where the owner can relax and a narrow desk in front of the window which is intended for work.

We assume that she is the owner of the shed since she is in all smiles and she appears ready to work. Well, who wouldn’t be happy to have their own space like this? And one thing I noticed here is the skylight that brings natural light into the shed apart from the large glass doors and windows. Also, there is a fireplace to keep the shed warm during cold months.

The design of the shed included a place for firewood storage. Also, since there is a limited budget, and to stay within the ex-display windows and doors with little cosmetic damage were used in the shed. And it turned out really nice!

The shed’s front elevation emulates the architectural style of nearby factories. Hence, it used clean lines, matte black finish and a low-rise pitched roof. However, it is scaled to fit the residential setting. It is nestled into the garden enveloping the mature apple tree.

Although small, this shed serves the owner in many different ways. And the best thing about it is that it is home to the owner’s creative side. Also, every time guests see it, they are reminded of the beauty of pottery which could be buried in today’s digital era.

The owner of this pottery shed is pleased with the result of the project. Although she has a limited budget, Grey Griffiths managed to achieve the ceramicist’s goal through the clever use of materials. Because of this, they arrived at a bespoke design, giving the owner a space where she can work three days a week with local makers. Apparently, it is very fulfilling on the part of the owner that she now has her own space to work without making a mess in her main home and without being disturbed. Creative people need a time for themselves and no doubt, the ceramicist could get that from her very own potter shed right off her home! Would you build your own shed too? What would it be for?

Beautiful Homes of Instagram

“Mona Bina – Home For All” was built in 1937. We purchased her in 2014 only hours after walking through for the very first time. We hired Landschute to lovingly restore her to her previous glory. Funny thing was, we were looking for a new house, but her charm could not be ignored. We fell in love immediately.

Architecture

Our builder, Jon Monson is notorious for restoring old homes. Where most people may have seen a “tear down” we, along with Jon saw potential.

Lake side details of Mona Bina: Diamond windows, lattice railing, beautiful stone steps. In her full lakeside glory… She is truly something to behold.

Lake

Lake Minnetonka.

Welcome!

Living on a lake is like living with living art. The time of day, the light, the clouds, the sailboats that drift by… Every minute of everyday day is different and beautiful in its own way. Here, Dorothy and Buster our English Bulldogs are enjoying the “golden hour” on the lake as the sun is just setting.

Front Door

That first visit with the realtor, I opened the front door and I felt like I had opened it a thousand times. It was an explainable feeling. The new, expansive front door is painted Benjamin Moore. The anchor door knocker is from Nantucket. Rug is from International Market Square “Sale Room” (open to public.) Just steps away, visitors are greeted with Landschute’s magnificent work-coffered ceilings, wood panels, intricate moldings and details upon details as Lake Minnetonka and all its beauty beckons you in.

Entry

I love to move things around. Pictured here is an antique table of my Grandmother’s. I love the simplicity of just the table against the bare floor. I call this one “the ladies and the ducks.” I’m slightly obsessed with myrtle topiaries (as you can see) and any and all brass figurines. Wood floors are Du Chateau-walnut with an oil stain. Antique wood sconces by Landschute Builders private collection.  Paint color is White Dove by Benjamin Moore.

Foyer Bench

Spindle bench is from Francis King showroom. Cushion in Schumacher plaid. Grandfather clock is an antique.

Timeless

Another view with a change in furniture. I love to pull the rugs up so I can see the beautiful detail in the wood flooring. Pine dresser is an antique, but I have found similar at English Traditions in Naples, FL. Brass hurricane lamp from Homegoods (similar here & here), Brass lamp from an estate sale (similar). Custom mirror by The Great Frame Up. I love mixing in old and new lighting ! Antique wood sconce is from Landschute’s private collection.

Living Room

The living room is one of my favorite rooms. The coffered ceiling and soft colors in the fabrics along with the southern facing windows leads to a soothing experience. Chairs are A. Rudin and I adore them. They are the most expensive pieces of furniture I have ever purchased and I have zero regrets! The quality is outstanding and the comfort is out of this world. Antique side table from One King’s Lane (similar), Blue and White pottery from John Derrian in NYC, brass-looking glass is an estate sale find. Art from The Atelier Collection, rug is Couristan carpet made into a rug. I needed a custom size to fill the space and this rug had everything I wanted; warmth, nautical and classic. Blanket over chair is Faribault Mills. Bergere chair in a Schumacher mohair.

Fireplace

Lantern is HomeGoods, vintage art by, The Atelier Collection. Large blue and white ginger jar is from Chesterdales in Naples, FL. Little one was a gift from my girls from William Sonoma.

Art

Vintage art by “The Atelier Collection”. Hayley, the curator had this in her personal collection and I loved it so much she let me graciously take it right off her wall. The tones are so rich and the frame is to die for. You’ll see very soon that I have a “slight” obsession for clipper ships.

Antique Coffee Table

First of all…This coffee table!! It’s a 1970’s Baker bamboo table that I found on (get ready for it) ETSY!!! I nearly died. Seriously! It’s a gem and I will own it forever! (Find a similar coffee table here). Couch, The Sitting Room Studio, blue pillows, Schumacher. Tiny print pillows, Amy Karyn. Sail boat needlepoint is from Chazin Interiors. I adore design books and often look through them for inspiration. I’m amazed at how often I notice something I never saw before. Countless design inspiration just a reach away.

Coffee Table Decor

Topiaries

The ladies (myrtles) travel from room to room and I love how easy going they are! They love the southern sunlight in the living room. Lantern from HomeGoods. Vintage art (the best collection I’ve ever seen) The Atelier Collection.

Ottomans

Living room ottomans are from The Sitting Room Studio. I love ottomans because they can move easily from room to room and come in handy for gatherings when you need extra seating. Bunny sketch is from Nash Frame. Pine table is a garage sale find.

Side Table Decor

 Close up of my antique table. I love it’s size and charm and it’s perfect between the two A. Rudin chairs.

Console Table

This pine console table I have had for over 25 years. It used to be my writing desk and now it sits behind my living room sofa, separating the living room and dining room. Cubes are from Etsy, slipcovered in Schumacher Tribal print. The print reminds me of nautical flags. The ginger jars also get moved from table to table. Flowers by Designer Blooms. Silver tray is an estate sale find. Small ginger jar is a find from a Nantucket antique store. Star glass hurricanes are from Bean & Roe. I love collecting shell boxes. They add a natural textural touch to any room and remind me of the beach. Win Win!

Dining Room

Dining room table is Shabby Chic Couture from NYC. End chairs are from Hollyhock in LA. I’m planning on slipcovering the end chairs for winter in a plaid skirt. Chandelier is Lowcountry Originals Spring Island Oval Basket Chandelier. I love the magnitude of it over the table.

These bamboo chairs have a story. I was at a furniture consignment shop in Florida, and they were on hold for someone else. I begged and pleaded to buy them, but the manager made me wait until the end of the day to see if the customers was going to follow through. At 5:59 I was told I could buy the chairs! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a “find” in my life. I shipped them home knowing they would be the perfect match for our new home.

Built-in Cabinet

Built in cabinet is filled with antique silver that I collect at antique stores and estate sales. All the nautical ware is from Nantucket. Clipper art from The Atelier Collection. Bamboo chairs are covered in Hollyhock for Lee Jofa blue.

Classic & Timeless Kitchen

I’ve always wanted a white kitchen and Landschute is known for building classic white kitchens. White Carrera marble on countertops and backsplash, Silver hardware on cabinets. Tempered antique glass in upper cabinets. Island measures 106 by 54′ and is painted “Benjamin Moore Black” with antique brass pulls. Kitchen faucet is gold and with a farmhouse sink. I love mixing metals in a kitchen.

Star pendant lights are antiques from Nantucket. Glass dome is HomeGoods. Topiaries from Harvest Home. Clipper ship art from Nantucket.

Range

Black and brass stove is ILVE and I love its form and function.

Flower molding above stove is from the previous molding of front door. I wanted to work it in somewhere and luckily, it landed right here.

Back pantry has a butler’s vibe. Antique rug was a gift from a friend (similar here). Pine bench is an antique. Whale pillow from Homegoods (similar here). Mirror is antique from Mountain Dandy in Jackson Hole. Star wallpaper is Osborne & Little – Vintage II Coronata Star.

Kitchen’s Pantry

Spindles

Wooden antique sconces from Landschute’s private collection. Wallpaper is Schumacher. Dog oil is of our two beloved large dogs, a Newfoundland and a St. Bernard. The artist, Barbara Grieving. Because of the gold stars on the runner, I chose a classic damask gold tone wallpaper. It fits seamlessly into the house.

Stair Runner

I’ll never forget the day this runner was put it. I was giddy! The whole house is pretty quiet and serene and then all of a sudden…Whoa – lots of stars! I love the nautical vibe paired with the quiet undertones of the rest of Mona Bina.

Flooring & Millwork

I call this, “The Oval Office.” It’s actually just a very wide hallway, that we decided to make extra special. The floors switch to a herringbone pattern and lead to the master bedroom left (door is at an angle to get the best view of the lake upon entering) or the master bath, straight ahead.

Chairs, rug and side table are from The Sitting Room Studio. Pillows on chairs are Schumacher. Bench pillows, The Sitting Room, Schumacher and needlepoint is Chazin interiors. Custom mirror, The Great Frame Up.

Reading Nook

Sitting Room

When you enter the master bedroom, the first thing you see is a gorgeous view of Lake Minnetonka. The master sitting area is filled with light and we love all the windows and waking up with the sun. Couch is Quatrine, spindle chairs are The Sitting Room Studio (similar here ). Rattan cubes were a garage sale find for $30 that I covered with custom monogrammed cushions. (similar here or here for rope cubes) Side table – The Sitting Room. Brass lamp is an antique that I found on Etsy. Rug is ProSource (similar here).

Redecorating

Alcove

Landschute is known for built-in beds and our master bed is my favorite. It is flanked by bookcases with an arched top and coffered ceiling. Linen bedding is Quatrine, clipper ship pillows are Schumacher, striped pillow is Quatrine. Blanket is from Nantucket.

Master Bedroom

Full shot of master bedroom built-in. The coffered ceiling and beautiful architecture are Landschute details that make the home feel so comfortable.

Master Bathroom

The master bath has diamond windows on both sides. The white on white marble floors and beautiful “Artistic Tile” tile rug makes it impossible for me to cover up for a rug. Lighting is Circa Lighting. Bath is Bain Ultra (AMAZING). Vintage sale boat from Indigo Seas in LA. Monogrammed towels are Pine Cone Hill.

Towel Bar

Monogramming is a great way to personalize a space. Towels from Pine Cone Hill. Wallpaper is Schumacher. Art, The Atelier Collection. Bath bar is Restoration Hardware.

Decor

I’m a serious sucker for vintage boats… My favorites are from Indigo Sea shop in LA and a Country Look In Antiques in excelsior. And sea shells. Always!

Wall Art

The stars continue up the attic stairs, surrounded by shiplap leading to the boys room. Custom flag art by, Abbey Holden Studio.

Stairwell Art

Stairwell art is an eclectic mix of clipper ships and Nantucket memorabilia. Antique runneris  from Victory in Mpls. Overhead lighting is from Landschute collection.

Coastal Boy’s Bedroom

Built in Bed #1, antique pine nightstand, striped and plaid pillows from John Derrian in NYC. Vintage boy scout pennants. Rug is Dash and Albert. Overhead light is an antique from London – found on Ebay.

TV Nook

Heather’s Office

Comfy Zone

I fell in love with this oil in Jackson Hole and had to have it. Bamboo chair from living room making the rounds around the house. Here they both are in my office.

Powder Room

The Nook

We call this, “The Nook.” This is where you will find me every morning!! The nook is adjacent to the dining room and open to the kitchen and front entry. It’s where we hang out and catch up. Walker Zanger tile that looks like it’s always been here, navy chairs from, Wesley Hall (similar chairs). Carriage House

Mona Bina came with a carriage house. Back in 1937, this home was actually the gardeners. We remodeled “Mini Mona”, as we call her, first and lived in there while we waited for the “big house” to be done. We have 4 older kids, 2 at the time were in high school while we lived here and it was so charming and warm, sometimes I wondered if I’d even be able to leave it. It’s a real charmer. Currently, my mother and step-dad lives here and they are happy as clams.

Back Porch

This porch is perfect for lounging and staring off at the beauty of the lake. Custom “Mona Bina” pillow by Nantucket Monogram.

Theodore Wirth Ranch Exudes a Homey Modern Vibe

Who wouldn’t want to live in a home that is not just beautiful but also totally comfortable and cozy? Of course, all of us want a home like that, whether it is in the city or in an area surrounded by trees. After all, homes are built to make us feel relaxed in the same space every single day.

Do you know how to achieve that?

Aside from organizing everything and getting rid of clutter, the architecture of the house has a huge impact on its overall aura. And yes, that includes the materials used in the house.

Because of that, you have to make sure that you speak with your designers clearly about the kind of house you want and how you want to feel while you are in there. No doubt, they can give you some helpful advice on that.

Well, you can clearly see that in our featured home for today. It is called Theodore Wirth Ranch which used different natural materials in it to achieve its modern ranch appeal. Also, the home looked totally cozy because of its wide usage of wood.

Unique feature: The house used a variety of key materials like corten steel, wood, polished concrete and others.

Similar House: Glen Isla Home Connects with the Beautiful Australian Landscape

Envisioned as a modern ranch, the home sits next to a densely wooded park that creates a retreat-like feel during the summer months while revealing the Minneapolis downtown skyline and its close proximity to the city throughout the winter season.

The home uses a variety of key materials throughout its design, like Corten Steel wall panels, natural Cedar, ground and polished concrete and Kasota limestone.

Containing the volumes of the home, the striking cantilevered roof plane shields the living spaces from the summer sun while catalyzing the sense of energy and movement throughout the entire site.

With a constant requirement for precision, the joinery and timing of materials throughout the home create clean, harmonic spaces that carry one throughout the home. Celebrating a truth in materials, white walls highlight the wide variety of finishes including clear timber, sandstone, marble, cork, concrete, and steel.

Stepping inside, the materials from the exterior of the home are also used on the interior, like in the entryway, where a floating bench is affixed to a limestone wall.

In the living room, the same limestone is used as a fireplace surround and wood framed windows let plenty of natural light in.

Behind the living room is the kitchen that combines wood and white cabinets and counters with black elements for a sophisticated modern appearance.

Aside from the black and wood combination in the kitchen, it also boasts its angular design for the island and shelves. This does not only create a unique feature in the kitchen but it also adds a modern vibe to the entire space.

The bedroom has large windows that become the focal point in the room as the wood frames of the windows break up the mostly white room.

In the master bathroom, a dark wood-framed mirror sits above the vanity with dual sinks and a stone counter.

In the powder room, a few brass accents and a tall mirror brighten up the small space.

Seen here is the staircase that is made from a combination of wood and steel. It sure gives this home that modern ranch feel!

The wood cabinetry in the dining room somewhat hides the stairs that lead down to the basement, where there are an open storage space and wine cellar.

Just off the living room is an outdoor space with a swimming pool, deck, and cabana with an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Looking back at the house, the cantilevered roof plane shields the living spaces from the summer sun. Mitigating street noise from the southern edge of the property, a planted berm adds privacy while further creating a sense of refuge in its semi-urban setting.

This residence was designed in a way that can easily accommodate gatherings and be used as a place to entertain. Central to the property, a 10-meter swimming pool reflects views of the surrounding structures.

In addition to the sauna, the pool house along the western edge provides a sheltered deck area and outdoor kitchen. Reflecting off the expansive south facing windows of the home, the pool helps frame views from within the open volumes of the living spaces.

One of the goals of the designers is to create a home with lasting durability and an enduring aesthetic. In order to achieve that, Strand Design used varied materials for the project. All the materials were carefully chosen for their natural beauty. This way, it can draw a close connection to the raw elements of the earth. Because of this, the house turned out really beautiful both in the interior and exterior. Aside from that, the outdoor area is also very inviting especially that it has its own pool and a pool house. 10 Tips in Choosing the Perfect Dining Table Light

Isn’t it nice to dine in a space that is well-lighted? Well, no one wants to eat in a dining area that is dark! No one wants to eat without seeing the food and without looking at the person he or she is dining with.

Dining with the family is one way to establish a good relationship. It is the perfect time to share stories and talk to each other about what happened that day. Because of this, the dining area needs to be inviting and homey. It needs to give a positive feeling to those who will use the space.

With that, it is important the dining area is well-decorated and well lighted. Most homes would use a single source of light in order to illuminate the area.

But did you know that you can actually do more when it comes to dining table light?

Well, today, we are going to give you tips on how to choose the perfect lighting for your dining area. Apart from its function in lighting the space, lighting fixtures can also be an added decoration to the home. We will also help you to decide whether to use a pendant, chandelier or other lighting.

Before that, here are the basic things that you need to consider when you add lighting to the dining area:

Position

Dining areas with suspended lighting like chandeliers or pendant lights look really nice. When you hang your lighting, whether it’s an enclosed room or an open plan, you have to make sure that the light fixture is placed center over the dining table.

Height

Some may ask how high the lighting should be. It needs to be high enough so it won’t block the view and it should be low enough to effectively illuminate the space. The fixture should be hung 28″-36″ above the tabletop.

Here are some design guidelines that will help you:

1. Consider table shape and size.

The shape and size of your dining table can help you select your lighting. For round tables, it is recommended that you use round or bowl-shaped or hexagonal lighting fixture. If the table is square or rectangle, you can try using an oval or rectangle or square fixture or any linear pendant light. When it comes to table size, a small table would look good with a large pendant light. For a long table, it would look great with double light installations.

2. Do not obstruct the view.

Some dining rooms have a great view from the area or features an interesting wallpaper or wall decor. If that is the case, make sure that your lighting fixture will not obstruct the view. Choose an open fixture like cage chandeliers. You can also hang it higher than usual, above eye level, so that it will allow a good view of the area around it.

3. Decide on your room’s style.

Your choice of a lighting fixture will also depend on the room’s style. You have to decide if you want a dining area that is modern, eclectic or whatever you want. For a more formal vibe, get fixtures that have crystals or uses metals on it like bronze or gold fixtures. But if you prefer a casual look, get a fixture with jute, ropes or wooden beads. Using fixtures made from natural materials will warm up the space.

4. Get the right size and shape of your lighting fixture.

The size and shape of your dining room light fixture will have a great impact on your space. A fixture should be 30 cm or 12″ smaller than the table in all directions. This way, it will not look too big or too small for your space. Another way to determine the size is to add the length and width of the room together then use the sum as the diameter of the fixture. Use feet for the room’s dimension and inches for the size of the fixture. For example, if your room is 5 feet by 8 feet, then the diameter of your light fixture will be in the range of 12-inches. As for the shape, we have mentioned this in tip number one. But you can also choose the ones that you think will look great for your dining area.

5. Mix with other lighting.

Most homes will just use one lighting for the dining area. Well, this is not enough! Try to add additional lighting to your focal point fixture. You can add recessed or track lighting that is aimed to a furniture or to a piece of art. Bring in some table lamps on a sideboard or a console table to add some glow in the area. Illuminate your cabinets with LED strip lighting or you can use glass doors for your cabinets so it can add sparkle to the space. Of course, wall sconces would be amazing too!

6. Add a dimmer switch.

It is not just the living room or bedroom that would need a dimmer switch. You can change the mood of your dining room depending on the event. If you have a family dinner, it would be great to have a bright lighting. But if you have a dinner party, try to make the light a little dimmer. You can also have a romantic dinner with your partner by customizing the light level to match the mood. This way, you can achieve a candlelight dinner in your own home!

7. Decide on how bright you want your room to be.

In order to get sufficient light and the perfect amount of ambiance in your room, see to it that the total wattage of all your light fixtures is between 200 and 400 watts. Also, you need to decide the brightness of the room since this will also affect your selection. If you want fixtures that give a diffused lighting, you can get those with shades like a drum pendant light.

8. Choose they type of lighting fixtures you want.

There are unlimited options for lighting fixtures. You just have to choose one depending on its design, materials, size, shape, color, and others. If you want to get subtle lighting, get a drum pendant or lanterns that are enclosed on all sides. Try bell pendant lights to have a spotlight effect. Tower Grove Drive Residence Beautifully Combines Wood, Stone, and Glass

We do not need to debate on the fact that the materials used in making a home could either make it or break it. While others make use of concrete, some designers successfully combine various materials together.

The result?

A unique stunning home that every home owner would like to own!

Well, this is what we will see in the house that we will feature today. It is called Tower Grove Drive residence located in California.

You will be able to appreciate this house even more once you see the images of its exterior, interior and outdoor spaces.

You will surely be blown away by its beauty!

This modern hillside house is designed by architecture firm KAA Design located on a southern flank of the Santa Monica Mountains, California. This lovely home is surrounded by trees.

The house is a hillside retreat for the home owners which welcome guests with a circular driveway. One can see a stone wall and a central highlighted tree.

The architecture of the house is unique featuring overhangs and expansive roof lines. Its usage of sleek lines and geometric shapes turned out really beautiful.

The interior of the house features floor-to-ceiling windows which add an abundance of natural light. There is also a fireplace with a stone surround. Wooden elements inside the house adds a sense of warmth to the living room.

Between the living room and the kitchen is the dining area. It used colors that tie it with the living area. It has been defined by the use of a colored rug.

The kitchen has two islands and walls of wood cabinets which creates plenty of counter space and storage. Purple counter height chairs add some pops of color into the space.

When gets to the top of the stairs, there is a walkway that connects to the sleeping areas. But it is not just a simple landing from the stairs. It has a large wood bookshelf that lines one side of the walkway. The other side looks over the living room and dining area below it.

This is one of the bedrooms of the house which has a wood headboard with built-in bedside tables and opens shelving. Isn’t this a nice way to display some of your favorite items near your bed? Since there are two reading lamps on both sides, you can just grab a book and read before you doze off to sleep!

The house has a spacious bathroom with a freestanding bathtub that sits in front of the windows. But that’s not all. It also features a make-up vanity and a large two-person walk-in shower with a wood bench. You can literally spend long hours in a bathroom like this!

A wood and metal spiral staircase leads up to the upper floor of the home. You can get a good look of the stairs here as viewed from the sides and from the top. The pendant lights bring a nice industrial appeal to this area with a stone wall backdrop.

The main living area and the backyard are connected by wood framed doors. The outdoor area features a lawn, a wood deck and a swimming pool. All of these areas offer a good view of Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean beyond it.

The pool lounge also use colors that are seen in the interior of the house. This way, everything is tied together in terms of color and appeal.

Another part of the outdoor space near the pool area with pink outdoor sofa and white wicker chairs. Isn’t it very nice to spend an afternoon here while reading a book?

The house also has other outdoor spaces like this one. It is a small garden which features an interesting sculpture.

The upper floor of the home provides access to a green roof where there’s a small deck set up with lounge chairs and a fire bowl. This part of the house overlooks the neighborhood. Who wouldn’t want a green roof deck like this?

One last look at the facade of the house which stands with pride and beauty during the night as its light bring out its appeal.

Beautiful, right? Apart from the exterior, the interior and outdoor spaces of the Tower Grove Drive residence are also very impressive. KAA Design deserves the credit to this gorgeous residence wherein everything is laid well from the stone walls to the rectangular pool. I also love the colors that they use in the furniture and decors, which brings more life to the space. This way, natural elements like wood are being enhanced all throughout the space.
